Founded in 1993, HCA is a Philadelphia-based, employee-owned cooperative
that specializes in compassionate and skilled assistance given by
trustworthy aides. The Company is affiliated with the
Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute, a non-profit that advocates for
fair wages and benefits for home care workers, and higher standards of
care for clients.
HCA modeled its worker-owner business after
another PHI
affiliate, Cooperative Home Care Associates. In business for more
than 15 years, the Bronx-based business has grown into the largest
worker-owned health care company in the U.S.
As shareholders in the company, HCA aides have a stake in their
own futures and take great pride in providing excellent care for each and
every client. All aides receive excellent benefits including health
insurance, transportation and higher-than-average wages so they remain on
the job for clients.
HCA has trained and placed more than 1000 people in quality
healthcare jobs and currently employs more than 150 workers.
Our aides are supervised by a scheduling coordinator and case manager,
are mentored by highly-experienced aides, and receive ongoing education
to improve and broaden their skills.
